These two divines were charged with creating the first land and so, they did creating the sea inbetween the bridge of earth and heaven. After doing so, the two wished to be mated and so they constructed the Pillar of Heaven. With this new palace, they were destined to be wed. The first time, things didn't go as planned and Izanami had trouble giving birth to a healthy child. So, they remarried a second time and it was successful. With this, Izanami was able to give birth to many healthy god representing the mountains and the rives. They bore six more islands and many deities. However, while giving birth to their last child, the Fire God, Izanami was burned to death. After Izanami's death, she was sent to Yomi, the Land of the Dead. Her husband, Izanagi sought her out and found her in Yomi. However, upon finding her, Izanami told him she could not leave as she had already ate the fruit of Yomi. And then she had one last request. He was to not look upon her and yet, he lit a torch and saw something devastating. The once beautiful Izanami was now a decaying corpse and in result, he began to flee. Angry at Izanagi, Izanami sent a mob of ugly female spirits, warriors, and eight thunder gods after him. Yet, Izanagi managed to escape and trapped the entrance with a large boulder. Izanami cried that if he left her she would kill 1,000 people from their lands every day and Izanagi simply retorted from behind the boulder that he will cause 1,500 more to be born each day. From then, Izanagi was the only God of the Land of the Living and now Izanami became the Queen of the Dead and their marriage was ended... However, this isn't the end of their story. There is more to be told...
